Have you spotted our newset product available through Imperfect Foods? We're doing out part to make a better market for underloved seafood.
Say hello to Trashfish: Accidentally Better Than Tuna. Bake, grill or fry as if this was tuna... just accidentally better!
Americans eat almost one billion pounds of processed tuna every year -- but California fishermen aren't just catching tuna. The non-targeted bycatch, sometimes called "Trashfish", often ends up tossed, shipped abroad, or mislabeled. Help us shift to a supply-based seafood economy by eating more of what our fisherman catch sustainably.
Opah, also known as moonfish, is a common tuna bycatch. They don't school in large groups and have a less dependable migration, so they are less targeted by industrialized fishermen. Opah have a meaty and firm texture, with a mild and delicious flavor, making for an excellent tuna substitute.
As we continue to grow we hope you'll continue to trust us to serve up undervalued California seafood. Stay tuned to see what's next!
